BIG TIPS ATER FALLING DRIVING TEST

There are always lots of posts asking what to do after an unsuccessful driving test. Here are the key things to remember:

1. The examiner must give you a short debrief at the end of your test, whether you pass or fail. If you haven’t passed, they are required to explain briefly why you failed.

2. You can ask questions, but remember examiners have limited time. They may advise you to discuss the details further with your instructor.

3. If the examiner doesn’t offer a debrief, make sure you ask for one.

4. You’re allowed to have your accompanying driver (your instructor, parent, or friend) present for the debrief, even if they didn’t sit in on your test. This can be very helpful, as nerves or relief may stop you from taking everything in.

5. The test lasts around 35 minutes, so ask your accompanying driver to watch for you returning to the car park and meet you at the car for the debrief.

6. The examiner will need your permission to let someone else listen to the debrief. They may ask for it at the start or at the end of your test.
